Changes to the federal encryption law which was passed in December 2018 will take nearly two years to be voted on, according to the current state of play which was made clear after the Australian Labor Party introduced a bill this week seeking to speed up adoption of the changes.

Rather predictably, the Australian Labor Party has signalled to the Federal Government that it will not stand in the way of the encryption bill being passed by Christmas, with the party doing everything but ending the process of inquiry so that the government can have its way.

NBN satellite plans on target for 2015

The NBN Company expects to make its purchasing decision for two satellites for the national broadband network within the next "couple of months" before turning its attention to finding a supplier for its earth-based satellite services.

Coalition seeks to gag Conroy, NBN debate

The Senate has demanded Communications Minister Stephen Conroy table further documents related to the National Broadband Network, including a complete version of the 'Red Book' departmental advice to the incoming government relating to the project.
